Gibbon Spotting Cambodia: 2 Day, 1 Night Trek
Gibbon Spotting Cambodia is the first and original true trekking experience in Cambodia allowing wildlife lovers to see the newly discovered and incredibly rare ‘northern yellow-cheeked gibbons’ in their natural habitat. This specialist wildlife trek incorporates mountain biking, a local boat trip, ferry crossing and a night at a research station in the middle of the jungle from where you will rise early to see the magnificent gibbons swing above your head in their natural habitat. If there is one trek you do during your time in Cambodia then make sure it is this one.
Ta Veaeng : 3 Day, 2 Night Trek Distance 36km
This Cambodia trek takes you deep into the jungle, close to the borders with Laos in the north and Vietnam in the east. This area is rarely visited by tourists, and as such the chance of seeing rare wildlife is enhanced. During our trek we have lunch in a small village with the Brao hill tribe people. They are happy to share their fishing and hunting techniques. Here you will spend the night with a local family. Some parts of this Cambodia trek are well off the beatentrack. We will have to cut our way through the dense jungle and cross small streams. In the wet season the trek gets more interesting as the Steung Khampha River becomes swollen and thus harder to cross. Boat or raft building skills are sometimes, as a matter of necessity, employed. We spend the second night in the jungle before returning to Ban Lung.
Ta Veaeng : 4 Day, 3 Night Trek Distance 48km
This Cambodia trek takes you even further north. Here the population decreases, leaving a more natural flora and fauna habitat. The scenery constantly alters from the ‘Mountains of precious stones’ to the foggy Steung Khampha River. At dawn you will hear the call of the gibbons, providing a mystic atmosphere. We also trek over grassy savannah dotted with solitary trees. These are good areas to spot deer, wild pigs and other animals. We camp near to the river, giving you time to relax and cool off at the end of each day. This Cambodia trek is ideal for people interested in the indigenous wildlife.
